FAQ

How long will it take to have my bridalwear made?

The time it takes to complete an order is dependent on the complexity of the dress and my schedule. I would recommend contacting me at least three to four months before your wedding. It may be possible to make a dress at short notice in a matter of weeks if you have the time to accommodate dress fittings and if I have availability in my schedule.

I dont know what style of dress I want, can you help?

Before I meet with anyone I suggest that you go wedding dress shopping. This enables you to try on a wide range of styles. This gives you the best way of understanding what you like, what suits you and what you definitely don't like. It gives you an opportunity to see how different fabrics work and if you want to go big or go small with your skirt. With your shopping experience in hand we will work out together which elements you would like me to include when designing your dress.

How long does a fitting take?

I allow around one hour for each fitting, sometimes longer if the dress is complex.

I want a multicoloured, non traditional wedding dress with some unusual shaping. Is this possible?

Absolutely! Whatever your ideas are, I will work with you to turn your imagination into reality. With my four years experience working in mascot costume construction I have additonal making skills that usually wouldn't be used in everyday dressmaking. This means I can work outside the box and work creatively to produce unique designs.

I feel uncomfortable having a fitting alone, can I have someone with me?

Absolutely, just like you would take your close friends or family to shop for bridalwear you are more than welcome to have someone with you.

Do I have to take my clothes off during a fitting?

Many people are self conscious and being in your underwear in front of a stranger can be daunting.  You will not have to remove any clothing for your measurements. Before your first fitting you should have bought the underwear you plan to wear on the day.  At this point you would need to be in just your chosen undergarments, leggings or tights can be left on if your dress has a loose skirt.  If you are body conscious, please do let me know and we can work out what works best for you together.

Where are you based in the UK?

I am based in the Ribble Valley. I cover Lancashire and the surrounding areas. If you are outside of this area please feel free to message me as I may be able to travel further to you.

What fabrics will I be able to choose?

The fabric choice is primarily yours to make. I will offer my professional opinion as to which fabrics are typically used for certain styles of dress but there are always exceptions to this rule when an alternative bridal gown is being designed.

How much will it cost me to have a bespoke dress?

Please refer to my Bespoke Service page for an idea of cost.

I already have my dress but I would like extra embellishment adding to it, is this possible?

Yes, I am more than happy to adapt a pre purchased dress to your liking.

I plan to lose weight for my wedding, is this a problem?

This isn't a problem so long as you tell me at our initial meeting.

Any major changes in size that have not been discussed with me prior to cutting fabric may incur extra charges.

I already have the fabric that I would like to be used for my dress, is this OK?

Yes of course, if you have enough fabric for the style of dress you want. If there isn't quite enough we can work out how you would like to incorporate it into your wedding dress.
